Social Statistics Section Mid-Career Award


About the Award

The Social Statistics Section of the American Statistical Association invites nominations for the Social Statistics Section Mid-Career Award for contributions to the development and application of statistical science to social problems and issues such as demography, sociology, economics, political science, criminology, education, and public policy. This award is given every two years to candidates within 15 years of their terminal degree.

Selection Criteria

Winners must have an active ASA membership and have earned their PhD 15 or fewer years ago.

Award Recipient Responsibilities

The award recipient will give a brief talk at the Social Statistics Section meeting during the Joint Statistical Meetings and is responsible for providing a current photograph and general personal information. The American Statistical Association uses this information to publicize the award.

Nominations

To submit a nomination for the Social Statistics Mid-Career Award, submit the following to Elizabeth Tipton by April 15, 2025:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Letter (not to exceed two pages) from the nominator summarizing the nominee’s credentials
  • Optionally, up to two additional independent letters
