Members Show There Is More Than One Way to Give

Amanda Malloy, ASA Director of Development

Messages of Hope

ASA Giving Day 2020 showcased all the ways to give—donate, volunteer, and share a message of hope and encouragement. By the time Giving Day wrapped up, nearly $69,000 was raised from 260 donors—54 being first-time donors.

The Chapter Challenge this year had a winner from each region:
Region 1: Washington Statistical Society
Region 2: Chicago Chapter
Region 3: San Francisco Bay Area Chapter

And the University Challenge Winner was Kansas State University.

Through all the shared messages of hope, interest in volunteer opportunities, and donations, ASA members showed we are a strong and caring community.

If you missed it on Giving Day, be sure to check out the special performance of Mark Glickman and Dick DeVeaux’s parody to “Yesterday.”

The ASA is the only major organization in the country focused on improving the quality of statistics education at all levels, helping people have a better understanding of data that impacts everyday decisions, and advocating on behalf of statisticians and data scientists around the world. It is through this work that we will achieve our vision of a world in which data is responsibly managed, analyzed, and better understood.
